LAWYER JOHN KUMAH PASSES ON.
Lawyer John Kumah, aged 45 passed on at the Suhum government hospital after a short illness. He died on Thursday, March 7. Mr Kumah the Deputy Finance Minister and first-term Member of Parliament for Ejisu was survived by his wife, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah and six children.
BUSINESSMAN DEFRAUDED GHS620,000 .
Evrard Gbegoueu, a French national together with Ernest Kwaku Antwi and Jordan Ansah have been remanded for swindling a businessman of GHS 620,000 in a gold transaction.
Mr. Hayford Boadi, the complainant, was outwitted by Evrard under the pretext of selling to him gold but failed to deliver after transferring the money for transaction.
After several failed attempts of getting Evrard to honour his part of the deal, an individual who led the deal baited Evrard into taking another gold transaction.
The accused was arrested when he quickly arranged to take the new gold transaction.
Evrard is facing a charge of defrauding by false pretences.
MAN, FINED GHS 2,400 OVER WATER METER THEFT
The Weija Circuit Court has convicted a 20-year-old Nigerian for stealing a water meter. The man by name Sadiq was caught by a resident of Kasoa with a water meter and standpipe in his sack.
Sadiq, charged with unlawfully causing damage to a meter belonging to Ghana Water Company Limited pleaded guilty. The court thus convicted the accused on his own plea and was sentenced to pay a fine of GHS 2,400 or face a six-month imprisonment
