Ex-President, Donald Trump Convicted of Falsification of Business Records

31st May, 2024.

Former President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump was convicted in New York of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal.

The former President was convicted of 34 counts of falsification of business records ahead of the 2016 election. The presiding judge, Justice Juan Merchan has set 11th July for sentencing.    

The five-week jury trial featured testimonies of Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen, a former Trump lawyer and fixer. 

Court Dismisses Nana Oye’s Suit Against Tony Lithur.

On May 27th 2024

An Accra High Court dismissed a defamation suit filed by Nana Oye Bampoe against her ex-husband Tony Lithur. 

The suit was dismissed for not disclosing any reasonable cause of action.

In his ruling, Justice Owusu-Agyeman held that, the entire pleadings/facts contained in the plaintiff’s- Nana Oye- statement of claim were premised on the divorce petition filed by Mr. Lithur therefore could not ground an action for a defamation suit. cost of GH5000 was awarded against Nana Oye Bampoe Addo.

Avoid Reckless Political Commentary Over Ato Forson’s Trial, Judge Cautions Sammy Gyamfi and Others.

29th May 2024.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe has advised Sammy Gyamfi (a national communications officer of the National Democratic Congress) and others to be guarded in their comments in respect of the case of Republic v Ato Forson.

The admonition of the presiding Judge follows the fallout from a leaked audio conversation between Richard Jakpa 2nd accused and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame.

Dr. Ato Forson a former Finance Minister and current Minority leader is standing trial for allegedly causing financial loss of €2.37 million to the state for procurement of ambulances for the Ministry of Health.
