The New Executive Team Elected for the Ghana Bar Association

In a historic election held in Kumasi on Wednesday 11th September 2024, the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) elected a new leadership team to steer the legal fraternity’s affairs for a three-year term. The highly anticipated election saw legal professionals from across the country participating, highlighting the importance of unity, integrity, and professionalism in shaping the future of law in Ghana.

Efua Ghartey Esq, was elected as the new President of the GBA, marking a significant milestone in the association’s history. She secured 1,279 votes representing 54.24% of the total votes cast. As a seasoned lawyer with years of experience, Efua Ghartey has pledged to lead the association with a commitment to strengthening the legal profession’s role in national development. 

Joining her as Vice President-elect is Victoria Barth Esq., a distinguished lawyer known for her advocacy for legal reform. Her experience and commitment to social justice are expected to bring a fresh perspective to the GBA’s leadership, particularly in advancing reforms in legal education and access to justice.

The position of Secretary was won by Baffour Gyau Esq., whose strong administrative skills and deep knowledge of the GBA’s operations will be instrumental in maintaining the association’s organizational efficiency. 

Aurelius Awuku Esq. The immediate past secretary of the Greater Accra Bar was elected as the Assistant Secretary, bringing additional support to the administration and governance of the association. 

The office of Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) has been entrusted to Saviour Kudze Esq., a lawyer with a reputation for clear and effective communication.

Rounding out the leadership team is Lawrencia Adika Esq. an unassuming and efficient Barrister who has been elected as the Assistant P.R.O. 

This new leadership team brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the GBA, promising to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and advocacy. Members of the legal fraternity and the general public alike looks forward to the positive changes this team will implement in advancing the interests of lawyers and improving Ghana’s legal landscape.
