Message from GBA President Mrs Efua Ghartey on International Women’s Day, 2026

Today, we celebrate the veritable contributions and successes of women in shaping the world as we observe International Women’s Day.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Give to Gain” is a call for reciprocity and support for women and girls as they navigate the indubitable hurdles of inequality and injustices in their quest for greatness.

For centuries, women have selflessly birthed, nurtured and supported the dreams and aspirations of others. Now, it is time for the world to offer women and girls equal opportunities for growth and prosperity in all fields of human endeavor.

Women are more impactful when given the freedom to thrive in a world where they have equal rights and access to opportunities and the resources to live out their God-given potentials.

As women Lawyers, let us all lead the advocacy for gender equality and justice for women and girls in our country through intentional legal and socio-cultural reforms, challenging discrimination and calling out stereotypes and biases. Remember, our society stands to gain enormously when women and girls are given a fair shot at equality.

God is within us, we are positive influencers as in Exodus 15:20. Let’s continue to be pace setters.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the women at the Bar and the girls aspiring to become the next generation of Women Lawyers in Ghana.

God bless us all!
