
Joe Biden hints of major changes to the US Supreme Court

Across the Atlantic, US President in his lame duck session has stated that he is pushing for legislation to effect major changes to the apex court.
The changes include imposing term limits on the tenure of the Justices and formulating a code of ethics for the Justices.
In a congress largely controlled by Republicans, observers note, Mr Biden proposals would likely hit a snag.
Ato Forson Acquitted by Court of appeal

The Court of Appeal coram Ackah Boafo and Bright Mensah JJA acquitted and discharged Richard Jakpa and the Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson.
The Court concluded that the prosecution’s failed to demonstrate a “viable case” before the High Court.
Speaking through Ackah Boafo J.A , the Court of Appeal held that “ the failure to call the former Finance Minister (Seth Tekper) on whose behalf the impunged letters indicate the 1st appellant signed for, amounts to a failure to establish that Ato forson requested for issuance of the LC without due care and authorization…”
In the result, the Appellate Court upheld the accused’s application for a submission of no case, with a majority ruling of 2-1.
Ridge hospital slapped with 3 million Ghana Cedis Judgement

An Accra High court has slapped Ridge Hospital with judgment sum of 3 million Ghana cedis for negligently causing the death of Akua Nyarko Osei Bonsu.
The Plaintiff in the suit, husband of the deceased claimed that the death of his wife had been occasioned by the failure of the hospital to administer FRAGMIN after Caesarean section was performed on his deceased wife.
The High Court coram Ali Baba Abature J, held that the conduct of the 4th Defendant (“the hospital”) in refusing to addressed the antenatal care and post-natal care of the deceased constituted negligence.
The court of also stated that the 4th Defendant did not lead a scintilla of evidence to rebut the Plaintiff’s claim.
The court, therefore found for the Plaintiff: that the death of the Akua Nyarko Osei Bonsu was the natural consequence of the 4th Defendant conduct.
Tik Tok sued by the US Government

The US Government through the Justice Department has sued TikTok(“the company”). The thrust of the US government’s pliant is that Tik Tok illegally gathers children’s data.
According to the New York Times, the company knowingly allowed children under 13 to create and use TikTok accounts, and frequently failed to honor parents’ requests to delete their children’s accounts.
