In his opening remarks, Justice Kulendi highlighted the importance of the theme. He praised the Guest Speaker, Hon. Atta Akyea, describing him as a man of unparalleled intellectual prowess and a voracious reader.
For his part, Hon. Atta Akyea delivered a captivating lecture that kept the audience enthralled. He argued that a lawyer’s versatility knows no bounds, asserting, “Apart from witchcraft, a lawyer can fit into any role.” He illustrated this by noting that lawyers can cross-examine pathologists with such precision that they are often mistaken for pathologists themselves.
Hon. Atta Akyea emphasized the qualities that make a lawyer of consequence, stressing the importance of knowing God, fighting mediocrity and adopting intentional thinking to exude excellence. His address, interwoven with humour, profound legal insights, and practical advice, received a standing ovation from the audience.
The lecture was followed by an engaging question-and-answer session during which the audience posed a wide array of legal questions to both the Guest Speaker and the Chairman.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Law shared fond memories of the Chairman and Guest Speaker during their formative years at the Bar, expressing pride in how far they have come.
