Ahead of the maiden Disputes Convocation scheduled for Thursday, 18th December 2025, the Steering Committee—comprising Lauraine Darkwah (Convener), Jeffrey Osei Mensah of Qarah Institute, and Emmanuel K. Owusu-Asare of 233 Legal—paid a courtesy call on Nana Dr. S. K. B. Asante, who will serve as chair of the Convocation. The visit provided an opportunity for the team to formally present the finalised programme outline and to engage Nana Dr. Asante in discussions on topical and emerging issues in arbitration.
During the interaction, Nana Dr. Asante commended the Steering Committee for the initiative, noting the critical role such platforms play in deepening capacity, nurturing young professionals, and advancing the growth of arbitration in Ghana and beyond.
The Disputes Convocation promises to be a high-level, one-day conference carefully curated to equip participants with practical, hands-on knowledge and skills necessary to launch and build a career in arbitration. The Convocation will host renowned arbitrators, including Prof. Richard Frimpong Oppong as Special Guest and Justice Nene Amegatcher as Keynote Speaker, whose insights are expected to shape robust conversations on the future of dispute resolution.
Participants will also benefit from erudite panel discussions featuring distinguished practitioners and public office holders such as Hon. Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, Hon. Joe Ghartey, Hon. Diana Asonaba Dapaah, David A. Asiedu, Shadrack Arhin, Nania Owusu-Ankomah Sackey, Michael Akafia, Funmi Iyayi, and Thaddeus Sory. A key highlight of the Convocation will be a live arbitration simulation, chaired by Mr. Bobby Banson, designed to provide practical exposure to arbitral proceedings.
