Justice Osei Tutu, a well-respected Justice of the Superior Court of Ghana launched his latest book at the Law Court complex Auditorium on Tuesday 9 July, 2024.
The book titled “Contemporary Evolving Issues in Civil Procedure and Litigation” is an exciting chapter in legal scholarship. The book consists of twenty- one articles and essays traversing intricate legal topics in procedure and contemporary issues.
With the aim of addressing lucidly the peculiar challenges in civil procedure, the book is a beautiful portrait of academic simplicity as it is an easy-read.
The occasion was graced by the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude S. Torkornoo, Supreme Court Justice, Justice Richard Adjei-Frimpong and other Senior Justices of the Superior Court. Other dignitaries included members of the Bar.
The Launch was also attended by Law students, the general public and streamed live on social media. In interviews conducted by 233legal, many were thrilled by the scholarly publication and hope this would enrich their knowledge of the ever-changing scope of Civil Procedure in Ghana.
Speaking at the Launch, the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo praised the author for his in-depth research and scholarship. The Chief Justice was in no doubt that the book would be helpful to legal practitioners and Judges alike.
For his part, Kwaku Pianstil (Managing Partner, Painstil & Painstil) stated that the comprehensiveness of the research that culminated in the book makes it a required reading for all legal practitioners. He was equally excited that the book in critiquing several decisions of our Superior Court employed lucid language.
In his remarks, Justice Osei Tutu stated that the need to arm the 21st century lawyer with the necessary legal arsenal to surmount the challenges of the day had been his inspiration in writing this book.
His previous Book, titled “Essentials Themes in Land law and Customary law”, is widely read and considered in the legal fraternity as a reliable source of contemporary land and customary law.
Justice Osei Tutu was called to Bar in 2002. He holds an LLM in international HumanRights from Fordham University, New York. He was elevated to the High Court in2013 where he has since exhibited competence and undoubted dedication, industry and integrity in the discharge of his duties. Notable among his Judgements include Ebenezer Laryea v Okoe Q Asamani.
