On 11th June 2024, the Greater Accra Regional Branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) officially launched its maiden Law Week, unveiling a bold vision to deepen engagement with members of the legal profession. The event which is slated for 2 to 5 July, 2025, is themed “The Future-Fit Lawyer: Embracing Technology, Entrepreneurship, Excellence, and Service to the Community.” It aims to equip legal professionals with the tools and mindset to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Speaking at the press launch, President of the Greater Accra Bar, Isabel Boaten, emphasized that the initiative is in line with the Bar’s core mandate of advancing professional and educational development. She described the Law Week as more than an event — a “curated programme” designed to engage members, drive growth, and amplify the Bar’s impact in society.
“Planning for the future means acting today, not tomorrow. Our goal is to foster professional development and recalibrate our approach to the changing legal and global marketplace, while upholding our duty to serve the community,” Ms. Boaten noted, stressing the urgent need for adaptability and forward thinking in the legal field.
The theme responds directly to the shifting dynamics of the profession. The Greater Accra Bar believes this inaugural event could become a transformative milestone for lawyers across various sectors — from private practice and corporate Ghana to academia, politics, and entrepreneurship.
