The President, John Dramani Mahama at the forenoon of today swore in Dr. Justice Srem-Sai as Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. This comes after he was successfully vetted on 26th February 2025 by the Vetting Committee of Parliament and subsequently approved in the house plenary.
Despite earlier confrontations among members of the Vetting Committee during his vetting, he discharged himself creditably well by answering questions bothering on various issues, including legislative and judicial reforms, accountability, and access to justice.
Dr Srem-Sai has, over the years, built a reputation as a passionate constitutional and civil right advocate and has in fact worked on some landmark reported cases decided by the Supreme Court of Ghana. These include Edmund Addo v Republic and Dr. Nduom & 2 Others v the Bank of Ghana & 2 Others.
Before his appointment, he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law. He holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, BL from the Ghana School of Law and Post-Graduate degrees from Cardiff School of Law, Harvard Law School and Leeds University.
