The Ghana Bar Association (GBA), in a statement issued on Friday 6th December 2024 called on participants in Ghana’s Electoral process (slated for 7th December 2024) to take this exercise with utmost respect and tolerance.
The statement signed by Association’s President, Mrs Efua Ghartey urged Ghanaians to eschew any conduct likely to contravene the peace and tranquility in the nation.
“Let us conduct ourselves with integrity, respect and civility, even in the face of differing opinions. Remember that our actions and words reflect not only on ourselves but also on our profession as a whole. Our opinions matter and should thus be proffered with the ultimate purpose of helping to shape the course of our dear nation.” the statement noted
The GBA in the self-same statement also conveyed its regards to members contesting parliamentary elections noting that, “for stepping forward, we wish you the very best as you demonstrate such great dedication to public service and commitment to upholding the values of our noble profession. May your actions and decisions be guided by wisdom, integrity, respect for the rule of law and a deep commitment to serving the greater good”.
Finally, the statement urged voters to consciously exercise their franchise in fulfilment of their civic and patriotic responsibility.
