The name Victoria Barth is not an unfamiliar name at the Ghana Bar. For many young lawyers, she was their passionate teacher of Legal Ethics and Advocacy at the Ghana School of Law. To most experienced lawyers at the Bar, Victoria comes across as the tenacious, persuasive and captivating advocate who diligently pursues the cause of justice for her clients.

She has represented clients in complex and high-profile cases notable amongst them being her successful representation of the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecelia Dapaah in the recently ended probes and legal action against the latter by the Office of the Special Prosecutor and the precedent shattering case of Standard offshore v National Investment Bank.

Victoria was called to the bar in October 2002 with notable year mates such as Hon Alfred Tuah Yeboah, the Deputy Attorney General, Justices Kwasi Anokye Gyimah, Alexander Osei Tutu and Francis Obiri, of the High Court bench and Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South. She started her work as an Assistant State Attorney at the Attorney General’s Department & Ministry of Justice, Kumasi before joining Sam Okudzeto & Associates (SOA) in 2003. She is currently the Managing Partner of SOA where she heads the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team of the Firm.

In our maiden episode of the “Unwinding Series”, we host Mrs Victoria Barth as she gives us an insight into her journey in the law, family life, emerging issues about the legal profession and legal education in Ghana
